My softener is using lots of salt since turning on the outside faucet.
It isn’t unusual to hear customers say that they use a lot more salt in the Summer. It usually happens because the pipes feeding their outside faucets are being Softened. If it isn’t necessary to treat the outside water then perhaps a small plumbing change is in order. In most cases it is possible make the outside water untreated fairly inexpensively. Sometimes, due to the layout of the home, it isn’t possible to replumb the outside faucets. In that situation try installing an untreated outside faucet right above the Water Softener. Use the untreated faucet the most often for watering the lawn and gardens. Use the Softened faucet for filling up your kiddy pool, and enjoy your great water.
