Spring is in the Air, and in the Water…
You have got to love it! The Mercury is rising, people everywhere are excited about reclaiming their backyards and getting ready to open up their Summer camps.
One thing that can go overlooked in the Spring clean up process is the Well Water. If your home is on a Dug Well you should get used to Sanitizing your Well every Spring after the snow melt and rainy season has finished. Dug Well are under the direct influence of surface Water. Surface Water can bring everything it comes in contact with right to your faucet. So dug well users need to be extra vigilant about their water quality. Most of the modern Wells in New Hampshire are Drilled Bedrock Wells that go down into the Granite Bedrock deep enough to escape the influence of surface Water. These Wells offer a more consistent Water quality than the seasonally changing Dug Well.
If you have a Summer home or Camp that’s on a well system remember that it has been siting dormant for a long time. Simply running the Water may not be enough to bring your water back to the quality that you need. Sterilizing the Well prior to moving back in is a great way to assure that you won’t have any surprises when those precious days finally arrive. If you would like printed instructions on how to Sterilize a well please go to our website at www.secondwindwater.com.
As water sits in a well for a particularly long period of time naturally occurring Bacteria will begin to reproduce rapidly this can often result in bad Taste, Odor, and even Bio Slime. This Bacteria is not necessarily harmful to your health, but it isn’t all that desirable either.
Water Treatment Systems should be serviced in the Spring prior to being put back online. Old Cartridges should be replaced with new ones. Cartridge Filter Housings should always be sanitized anytime that you exchange Cartridges.
