Summertime and the Livings….Easy???
Friday, July 17th, 2009Another service call in that seems to happen more often in the summer is related to organics in water. Organics come from plants and leaves on the ground that form a sort of tea. The organics have a bad smell, sort of like a pig pen, and have a nasty taste like a wet band aid. Organics staining will also show up in Laundry in the area of the clothing were sweating occurs, like under the arms of your favorite shirt.
We run into these symptoms after the big summer thunderstorms and during the Spring snow melt. The rushing surface water and increased vegetation from summer will find its way into wells sometimes deep bedrock wells, but usually Dug and Point Wells, and into the home. Even the best Water Treatment Systems don’t perform well when Organics are present. The organics wrap around the Iron and Manganese in the water sequestering the metals from being removed while passing through the Treatment System
The best thing to do is to grade the ground area around the well, to keep the run off water away, keep the vegetation to a minimum, and increase the frequency of your Cartridge changes and Systems Backwash/Regenerations cycles to keep your systems cleaner. Water Treatment Systems for Organics do exist for more information go to our website or call us anytime for a free consultation.
So until next time, keep those Organics away from your well, and enjoy you great water!
